Tour Overview
The Laya-Lingzhi Trek in Bhutan is a captivating journey through pristine landscapes and traditional Bhutanese villages. Covering about 340 kilometers, this challenging trek traverses high mountain passes, lush forests, and picturesque valleys. The trail leads to the remote village of Laya, known for its distinctive culture and unique customs. Trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks, including the majestic Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. The trek captures the essence of Bhutan’s natural beauty and cultural richness, offering an unforgettable experience for those seeking adventure and a deep connection with the Himalayan terrain and the warm hospitality of the local people.
Tour Highlights
Day 01: Paro – Shana – Thangthangkha (Trek start).
Covering a distance of 21 km, with an estimated walking time of 8 hours and a sleeping altitude of 3630m. The historical Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1654, marks our starting point. We’ll drive to Shana and pass through an army check post before trekking. The trail, along the Paro Chu, is rocky and can be muddy. After about 2 ½ hours, we reach a junction to Tibet – avoid it.
Day 02: Thangthangkha to Jangothang.
Trekking 16 km, approximately 6 hours, with a sleeping altitude of 4090m. The route passes yak herders’ settlements and crosses the tree line, culminating in a camp at Jangothang, providing a stunning view of Chomolhari.
Day 03: Jangothang Halt.
Acclimatization day with an optional hike to Tshophu Lake at 4300m.
Day 04: Jangothang to Lingshi.
Covering 17 km in about 7 hours, reaching a sleeping altitude of 4090m, and crossing Nyele La pass at 4890m. Lingshi dzong becomes visible in the distance.
Day 05: Lingshi to Chebisa.
Trekking 12 km in around 5 hours, sleeping at 3880m. Explore Lingshi dzong and the dramatic village of Gangyul before reaching windy Chebisa.
Day 06: Chebisa to Shakaypasa.
A 16 km trek lasting about 6 hours, crossing Goku La pass at 4350m, and camping at 3880m in Shakaypasa.
Day 07: Shakaypasa to Tsheringyangu.
Trekking 17 km in about 7 hours, crossing Jari La pass at 4747m, and camping at 4000m in Tsheringyangu.
Day 8: Tsheringyangu to Limithang.
Covering 18 km in approximately 7 hours, crossing Sinche La pass at 5005m, and camping at 3890m in Limithang, known as Snow Leopard country.
Day 9: Limithang to Laya.
A 10 km trek taking around 5 hours, with a sleeping altitude of 3840m. Approaching Laya, we encounter Layaps tending to their yaks and enter through narrow cobblestone paths to camp in a wheat field.
Day 10: Laya Halt. A rest day to explore Laya.
Day 11: Laya to Gasa.
Trekking 16 km in about 6 hours, reaching a sleeping altitude of 3010m. Descend to Taktsimakhang, pass an army check post, and witness Gasa dzong as we descend the rocky trail.
Note: This itinerary provides a general outline, and actual trekking times may vary based on individual and group factors. The trek is best undertaken during the optimal seasons from March to June and September to November.

Payment Terms
- The approval of tourists VISA is contingent on the full payment of the tour
- Flight ticket payment is subject to the Ticketing Time Limit issued by the airlines
Tour Cancellation and Refund Policy
- 30 to 15 days prior to arrival – 20% of the total tour cost will be levied as cancellation fee
- 14 to 7 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour cost will be levied as cancellation fee
- Less than a week prior to arrival – 100% cancellation charge will be levied as cancellation fee

Rescheduling Tour Dates:
- There are no charges for rescheduling your trip. However the minimum daily tariff, hotel rates, airline charges are subject to change depending on your new travelling dates.
